SIWWM Celebrates the Centennial

This month marks the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women's constitutional right to vote. SIWWM is so happy to announce that we will honor Staten Island women for their contribution to voter and civic engagement.

Although this centennial marks a very historic moment for white women, it excluded black women. We wanted to acknowledge these women for their civic engagement despite black women not being granted the right to vote until 1965 with the passage of the civil rights act.

The women we want to honor are:
